Pre War

Charles Frederick was born in Old Swan, Liverpool in 1882 to Charles Parr, a commercial traveller and agent, and Lydia (nee Anstiss). The family were living at Brooklands Road, West Derby, Liverpool. Charles’ father died in 1900 and the family had moved to County Road, Walton-on-the-Hill, Liverpool. Lydia occupation is shown as Draper, as was Charles and elder sister Katherine. Henry the eldest son was an actor and Ernest the youngest boy was an engineer; Mabel, the youngest daughter was studying at Liverpool College. In 1901 Charles’ mother died. On the 1911 Census Charles was boarding at Lord Street, Wolverhampton and his occupation was an assistant draper.

Wartime Service

Charles enlisted in Wolverhampton for 2/6th(T.F.) Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment as Private 2458. (Probably on its formation in Sep 1914). The Battalion moved to the Luton/Harpenden area as part of the 2nd Staffordshire Brigade. At some time Charles was made Lance Corporal. He died in Hillingdon V.A.D. Hospital, cause unknown, on 25 Apr 1915.
