On the 1901 Census the family were living at 54 Thane Villas, Emanuel, Islington, London, where his father was working as a Domestic Servant. They had moved back to Tring by 1911 and were living at Wilstone, where George and his father were working as Farm Labourers.
He was said to be living in Hemel Hempstead on enlistment.
His mother later lived at 87 Hitchin Road, Luton, Beds on pension records.
Wartime Service
George enlisted in Watford and served with the 1st/8th Battalion, Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment, initially with reg. no. 6105.
He was killed in action on 19 November 1917, aged 21, and is buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
