Archibald Baker was born in 1899, in Wigginton, Herts, son of Frederick Baker, a Cowman (B 1859 in Wigginton, Herts) and Lucy Baker (nee Mead) (B 1859 in Wigginton).
1901 Census records Archibald aged 2, living with his parents, Stepbrother Christopher 17, sisters Annie 12, Matilda 10, Amy 7, Lillian 3 months and brother Albert 4, near the Brewhouse, Wigginton, Herts/Berks.
1911 Census records Archibald aged 12, at school, living with his parents, Sister Amy 17 and brother Albert 14, near the Brewhouse, Wigginton, Herts.
Wartime Service
Archibald enlisted in Watford, Herts and posted to The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) with the Service No. 24742.
He was Killed in Action on 3rd May 1918, he is buried in the CWGC Mailly Wood Cemetery, Mailly-Maillet, Somme, France.
Additional Information
His brother Private 265441 Albert Thomas Baker was killed in action on 4th November 1918. He is buried in the CWGC Ghissignies British Cemetery, Nord, France. The value of his effects £11-10s-6d, Pay Owing and £4, War Gratuity, went to his mother Lucy Baker.
