Additional Information
His widow, Mrs. T Newman, ordered his headstone inscription whilst living at Clieveden, London Rd, Knebworth Station, Stevenage Herts.
Alfred is also commemorated on what is believed to be his widow's headstone in Knebworth (St. Martin) Churchyard. The inscription reads:
IN UNFADING MEMORY OF ALFRED
THE DEARLY LOVED HUSBAND OF
THIRZA NEWMAN
WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE.
MARCH 4TH. 1918 AGED 33 YEARS.
INTERRED IN ROCLINCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY NORTH EAST OF ARRAS.
