Pre War

Born on 1 Nov 1888 son of Walter Higginson and living at 7 Solesbridge Lane, Chorleywood. He was a barman and also lived at the Chorleywood Hotel. (Next of kin was a friend Emma Elbourn).

Wartime Service

Enlisted with the Yorkshire Light Infantry on 7 Sep 1914. On nominal roll of Royal Navy Hood Bn. 25 Jan 1915. Admitted to hospital in Malta with enteric fever on 30 Jul 1915 and invalided back to England. On 17 Feb 1916 wounded with a gunshot wound to the leg at Gallipoli and admitted to hospital in Malta. Served with the Machine Gun Company in France from 1 Sep 1916 and was again injured on 29 Sep 1918. Demobilised on 15 Feb 1919.
