Born 24 Jun 1890 in Studham, Bedfordshire son of George and Susan Dudley. He was boarding with the Abbott family in the Bees Nest, North Common, Redbourn in 1911 and working as a horseman.
Wartime Service
He volunteered in Feb 1915 and entered France on 30 Aug 1915 where he saw much heavy fighting. He was in action at Vimy Ridge, the Somme, Ypres and various subsequent engagements, and was wounded and gassed three times during his service.
He died from the effects of severe gas poisoning on May 8th, 1918 probably after he was discharged from the army.
He was entitled to the 1914-1915 Star, the General Service and Victory medals.
