Born in Weston in 1895, son of John and Sarah Oakley of Damask Green. Baptised at Weston on 3 March 1895. 1911 Census: living with widowed mother Sarah and sister May at Damask Green, Weston, Stevenage, Herts and working as a Farm Labourer.
Wartime Service
Died of wounds received at the Somme when capturing a German 1st line at Stuff Trench where heavy casualties were inflicted on the enemy and many prisoners taken.
