Richard and his brother Charles are also commemorated on the family headstone in Hertingfordbury (St. Mary) Churchyard. Richard’s part of the inscription reads:

ALSO OF THEIR BELOVED SON RICHARD CLIVE LIEUT. BOMBAY VOL. ARTILLERY BRIGADE WHO DIED IN HOSPITAL IN CALCUTTA ON EASTER DAY 1916 AGED 27
