Born on 12 Jul 1883 and baptised on 13 Sep 1883 in Mussoorie, Bengal, India son of Col. Montague Maxwell Carpendale (36th Jacob's Horse) and Mrs. Ellen Harriett Carpendale later of Sydenham Villas, Bray, Co. Wicklow. Educated at Haileybury College 1897-1901. He married Catherine Carleton Fry on 27 Nov 1911 in Bombay, India. Joined the Indian Army as 2nd Lieutenant on 27 Aug 1902 and was promoted to Lieutenant on 27 Nov 1904.

Wartime Service

Awarded Military Cross (Jul 1916).

Died from malaria at Damascus.
