Pre War

Born on 23 Apr 1876 in Sitapur, Oudh, India son of the late Gen. Sir Robert Melvill Jennings, K.C.B. and Agnes Mary (Gilderdale) Jennings. Educated at the United Services College 1888-93 and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 5 Aug 1896 (unattached list) and was posted to the Indian Army on 6 Oct 1897. Served on the North-West Frontier 1897-98 and 1901-02. Was promoted Lieutenant on 5 Nov 1898, Captain on 5 Aug 1905. He married Adeline Braun Forrester (nee Hartnoll) of 1 Hyde Park Terrace, London on 18 Apr 1912 and had two children.

Wartime Service

Promoted to Major on 5 Aug 1914. Killed in action on Chocolate Hill, Suvla Bay, Gallipoli while leading his men after he had been wounded three times.

Additional Information

United Services College, Westward Ho, Devon amalgamated with Imperial Service College in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
