Born on 8 May 1899 in Clewer, Windsor son of James Dixon and Hope Gertrude (Keith) Sykes of Langley Rectory, Maidstone. Educated at Haileybury College 1914-15.

Gazetted on 28 Dec 19115 2nd Lieutenant Gordon Highlanders, he was attached to the Royal Air Force and was killed in action.

Brother of Captain Ronald Arthur Sykes who was killed in action on 28 Apr 1917 and of Lieutenant Harold Keith Sykes who was killed in a flying accident on 29 Jun 1917 and who are all commemorated on these uk memorials.
