Pre War

Born in Weston in 1877, son of William and Eleanor Turner. Baptised on 30 September 1877 at Weston. 1911 Census: living with family in Weston at Tile Kiln Cottages, and working as a farm labourer. Married Annie Draper of Clothall on 1 August 1903 in Holy Trinity, Weston. Annie later lived at Warrens Green.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Hitchin, Herts. Was killed during heavy shelling of the trenches which were very muddy following a heavy fall of snow.

Additional Information

Brother of Albert Edward Turner also named on the memorial. War gratuity awarded to widow Annie.
