His home was at 15, Ickleford Rd, Hitchin.

Wartime Service

He volunteered in June 1915 and went to France the same year. He contracted dysentery and was invalided home. He was discharged from the army as unfit in April 1917. His name does not appear in the ‘Soldiers died’ database and he could not be identified in the records of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. An ‘In Memoriam’ notice in a local newspaper states that he "died from the affects of the Great War". He was buried in Grave S.E. 1566 in Hitchin Cemetery on the 29th July 1918.
