Born on 17 Oct 1899 in the Slopes, Therfield, Hertfordshire and eldest son of John and Eliza (Knights) Hale later of 19, West Terrace, Baldock Rd., Royston and baptised in Therfield on 11 Jan 1900.
Frederick was employed as a Gardener by W. Abbott of Brewey House and enlisted in Hertford.
Wartime Service
He died of his wounds at Shorncliffe Military Hospital and is buried in the Royston Burial Ground. He was one of only 9 casualties to the battalion dying pf Pneumonia in England.
