Born on 29 Aug 1894 in Chelsea, London son of Robert May and Thirza Sharpin of 44 Broomhouse Road, Parson's Green, London.


Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1903-11, he became corresponding clerk of the Church Benefit Society, Westminster.

Wartime Service

Enlisted in Jun 1915 formerly 5070, Private Queen Victoria’s Rifles 2nd/9th Bn. and entered France in Feb 1916.


He was wounded by shrapnel on 14 Jul 1917. On his recovery he transferred to the Civil Service Rifles and was killed in action by a shell near Peronne.
