Pre War
Born on 18 Feb 1895 in Bradford son of Lewis and Charlotte (Leadbetter) Crossley. His father died in 1901 and he attended the Royal Masonic School in 1903 to 1910.
He left school and was living with his mother in Queen’s Road, Bradford and working as a clerk with a wool merchant in 1911.
Wartime Service
He enlisted with the R.A.M.C and was a stretcher bearer in WW1 and was wounded by gas and/or shrapnel but survived the war.
He moved from Huddersfield to live close to his brother Joe, a publican in Highworth, Wiltshire because the climate would help his now chronic lung condition. He died of lung complications in the Victoria Hospital, Swindon.
