Pre War
He was born in Tyttenhanger Green, Hertfordshire and his parents were George & Ebber Reynolds. They lived in the fifth cottage away from The Plough PH at Tyttenhanger Green, Hertfordshire. (1901 & 1911) According to the 1901 census Edward was one of six children: three brothers: Alfred (9), Leonard (4) and Bertram (1); and two sisters Elizabeth (11) and Mary (8). The 1901 census also showed that the Reynolds family lived next door but one to Fred Cook and his family. The 1911 census shows that Edward’s parents had been married for 37 years, and had twelve children, although one of them died in infancy. In addition to the children already mentioned, the 1911 census records two further siblings, Edward’s older brother Arthur (33) and his younger sister Alice Florence (3). In 1911 was working as a farm labourer.
Wartime Service
The Medal Roll Index would indicate that Edward joined the Lancers as a Private and first entered the war in France on 15th August 1914.
