Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Pre War

Born on 9 Nov 1886 in Horsham, Sussex son of Edward Ingram Bostock J.P. and Sarah Southey (Baker) Bostock. Educated at Haileybury College 1900-04. Emigrated to Canada but returned on the outbreak of war. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Enlisted Private Duke of Edinburgh’s (Wiltshire Regiment) and served in France from Mar 1915, but was wounded after ten days. He recovered, obtained a commission as 2nd Lieutenant Royal Sussex Regiment and returned to France. He was again wounded while leading his men in an attack on three villages but died in hospital at Bray on the Somme.

Additional Information

Brother of 2nd Lieutenant Neville Stanley Bostock who was killed in action on 22 Apr 1917 and is also commemorated on these memorials and of Captain Archibald Thomas Bostock who was killed on 30 Sep 1915.
