He is probably Daniel BITTEN, (incorrect spelling on the Memorial)born about 1895, in Cowlinge, Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, the son of Charles and Agnes and one of 9 children. He enlisted at Hertford.

Wartime Service

He went to France 23rd March 1915. Some research shows he originally joined the Bedfordshire Regiment, number 13331, his Medal index Card shows him as initially being in The Army Cyclist Corps, number 383.

Additional Information

It is probable that he had an older brother, George who died whilst serving with The Worcestershire Regiment.
