Pre War
Born on 22 Oct 1869 in Ware, Hertfordshire and baptised on 3 Nov 1869 son of Rev Charles and Annie Margaret Lilley and was living at The Laurels, New Road, Ware in 1871. His father was a clergyman and headmaster of Ware School.
He married Jessie Mary A. Eames in 1899 in Edmonton and they lived in Cheshunt in 1901 with one son. He was working as a second mate in the merchant service having obtained his ticket on 30 Jul 1891. He joined the Royal Navy on 18 Jun 1894 but was discharged on 21 May 1896.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Southampton with the Royal Engineers and died in the Military Hospital in Dover.
