He was born 1882 in South Mimms, one of 6 children of Joseph, an agricultural labourer, and Maria. In 1891 the family were still living in the South Mimms area, where his father was now a blacksmith. In 1911 Charles was working a farm labourer.
Wartime Service
Went to France 26th June 1915 and was killed in action.
Additional Information
His younger brother William, a Lance Corporal in The Middlesex Regiment, died whilst a Prisoner of War in 1917 and his elder brother, (or cousin) George may have fought as a Sergeant, also in The Middlesex Regiment.
