Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Born on 23 Nov 1895 in Northampton son of James Adair (Indian Civil Service) and Maud (Foster) Crawford. Educated at Haileybury College 1910-13 and obtained a scholarship to Magdalene College, Cambridge which he did not take up. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 10th Reserve Cavalry on 12 Nov 1914 and trained with them at the Curragh Camp. He later transferred to the Northamptonshire Regiment and entered France on 9 Mar 1916. He was killed in action by a shell while in the firing line near Loos.
