Born in Great Hormead in 1892 son of Walter and Annie Spicer of Great Hormead, Buntingford, Herts and baptised on 4 Sep 1892. Living there in 1901 and in 1911 as a farm labourer. Enlisted in Hertford and recorded as a resident of Great Hormead.

Brother of George, died 25 Jun 1917, and William, died 13 Aug 1916, Spicer all listed on this same memorial, the only three sons of Walter and Annie Spicer.
