Born on 10 Dec 1887 and christened on 4 Mar 1896 in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire son of Charles Stamford and Frances Elizabeth Cousins.
He was a shop assistant and lived at 104 High Street, Hoddesdon. He was unmarried.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford on 20 Nov 1915 formerly 2889 Hertfordshire Yeomanry and embarked at Folkestone on 26 Dec 1916 arriving at Calais.
He was transferred to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 2 Jun 1917, joined them in the field on 6 Jun and was killed in action.
Additional Information
George is also commemorated on the family headstone in Hoddesdon Cemetery. His part of the inscription reads:
KILLED IN ACTION MARCH 15TH 1918 AGED 31(probable)
