Reginald was born in Buntingford on 3 October1899 to John Lewis and Harriet Cornwell who lived at Baldock Road, Buntingford. His father was listed as a builder’s clerk. In the 1911 census they were still living in Baldock Lane.


 

 


Wartime Service

Enlisted in Hertford; posted to London Regiment (City of London Rifles). Killed in action.


He is remembered on his parents gravestone in Aspenden Churchyard.

Additional Information

Reginald is also commemorated on the family headstone in Aspenden [St. Mary] churchyard in Aspenden, his inscription reads:

“. . . ALSO OF REGINALD A CORNWELL SON OF THE ABOVE (John Lewis and Harriet Cornwell) KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE JULY 9TH 1918 AGED 18 YEARS WE MISSED THEM MOST WHO LOVETH BEST."
