Born in 1891 in Kensington, London son of Dr. James D. and Mrs. Ellen Mary Hirst Smyth and was living in 60 Clapham Road, Lambeth in 1901. Educated at Ware and Newport Grammar Schools.
Wartime Service
Enlisted in Sep 1914 in Hove. Proceeded to France in Nov., 1914. Associate National Service League (1912). and was killed in action at Richebourg.
