Pre War

Born on 13 Sep 1895 in Hertford, Hertfordshire son of Albert Douglas and Agnes Collins later of 113 Lord Street, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and later still of 106 Thanet Road, East Cliff, Ramsgate, Kent. He was a carpenter.


Enlisted on 23 Oct 1912 in Portsmouth and first served on Vivid 1.

Wartime Service

He joined the Tartar on 6 Jun 1917 and was killed eleven days later by an explosion due to a mine laid in the channel.


The ship did not sink but was towed back to Dover and then Chatham for repairs. About 19 men were killed.
