Wartime Service

Arthur enlisted in Aylesbury as Private 2453 in Buckinghamshire Yeomanry (Royal Bucks Hussars). No Service Record was found for Arthur (he probably joined sometime in 1915).

The Bucks Yeomanry as part of 2nd Mounted Division went to Egypt in Apr 1915 and served at Gallipoli as dismounted cavalry.  Arthur may have joined them in Egypt in 1916 as a reinforcement. Arthur was re-numbered as 205990 in the renumbering exercise in 1917 . Also in 1917 the Bucks Yeomanry joined the Yeomanry Mounted Division in the Palestine Campaign and were to take part in the  3rd Battle of Gaza ( 27 Oct-7 Nov), Battle of Mughar Ridge, (13-14 Nov), The Battle of Nabi Samweil (20 – 24 November) and the Turkish Counter Attack (27-29 Nov).
