Pre War

Percy Walter William Cole was born in Lambeth Surrey, in 1886 to Francis Edgar and Frances Evelyn Cole.. On the 1911 Census he was 24 and living with his sister Elsie Brown and brother in law Henry Brown at 58 Hadham Road. Bishop's Stortford and working as milk carrier. He married Elizabeth Taylor in Bishop's Stortford in 1912.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Bedford and served in the  Bedfordshire Regiment.  The day he died, the 7th Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment had arrived an Neuville Vitasse, south east of Arras and had taken over the front line trenches from the King's Liverpool Regiment. The circumstances of his death are not known. 

Additional Information

His widow Elizabeth received a war gratuity of £3 and pay owing of £2 17s 1d for herself and her child.
