Born on 30 Oct 1892 in Cambridge son of Harry Dexter and Agnes Duesbury. He was educated at Hertford Grammar School 1903-05 and was living in 50 Grantham Road, Sleaford in 1911 as Assistant Manager of the Gas Works.
He married Dorothy Jackson on 19 Nov 1913 in Kensington, London and had one son. They lived in 47 Fore Street, Hertford and he was the Superintendent of Hertford Gas Works.
Wartime Service
He enrolled into the Army Reserve on 8 Dec 1915 and was mobilised on 2 Jan 1917 at Newark and embarked at Devonport on 9 Oct 1917 for Bombay arriving there on 4 Dec 1917.
As a 2nd Class Signaller he joined the 4th Training Battalion in Bangalore on 7 Dec 1917 and returned to UK on 18 Jan 1919 for demobilisation. He died of influenza and bronchopneumonia in Sunnyside, Gashouse Lane, Hertford.
Additional Information
Harry is buried in the family plot in Hertford (All Saints) Churchyard. His part of the inscription reads:
AND HARRY LESLIE DEWSBURY DIED 2ND MARCH 1919 AGED 27.
