Pre War
Born in 1896 in Ware, Hertfordshire son of Charles and Louisa Cockman and was living in 25 Crib Street, Ware in 1901 and 1911.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Ware formerly 2071, entered France on 6 Nov 1914. He was wounded at La Bassée on 12 Mar 1915 and after recovery in hospital at Boulogne he returned to the front.
He became a Lance Corporal and was wounded again at the Battle of St Julien on 31 Jul 1917 also gaining his Military Medal.
He was finally fatally wounded near Ypres by shell fire.
