Pre War

Born on 27 Jan 1875 in Great Moulton, Norfolk, son of Edward Russell and Mary Nina Chute. Educated at Haileybury College 1888-89. He worked as a clerk in a U.K. railway engineer’s office from 1892 to Jun 1893, emigrated to Canada and worked in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada in 1913 as a miner and was living in Willows Camp, Victoria, B.C., Canada when he enlisted.

Wartime Service

Formerly a member of the 50th Gordon’s Militia, B.C., he enlisted in Victoria on 19 Jun 1916 into the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He died at Witley, Surrey.
