Harold was a driver for the royal army service corps, his service number was T/33048. Harold was died died of wounds probably in hospital at Bailleulon 27 June 1917 age 21.
He is buried in Bailleul cemetry in France.

Seems to have been christened Harold Ernest Simpkins.
Harold's sister Henrietta simpkins was born in hertford 1882 and died in Dublin, Ireland in 1950. Harold's cousin, Albert, died in France in 1918, he was from Hatfield Road near the Three Horseshoes pub. Albert's parents were William simpkins and Sarah Miles. . Harold's brothers godfrey, Archibald, Stewart and Victor also served in the Great War; Archibald and Victor had moved to Canada and served with the Canadian expeditionary force.
