Pre War

Born on 27 Oct 1896 in Nazeing, Essex and baptised on 6 Dec 1896 in Hoddesdon son of Norman Peter and Katherine Elizabeth (Blake) Christie and was living in Myddleton House, Amwell Street, Hoddesdon in 1901. He married Norah Allen on 6 Nov 1914 in St Mary, Finchley, London.

Wartime Service

He was already in the Navy in 1911 as a cadet at the Royal Naval College, Isle of Wight and appointed midshipman in 1914 and Sub-Lieutenant in 1917. He was appointed to H.M.S. Surprise in Nov 1917 and was killed when three destroyers, Torrent, Tornado and Surprise all ran into a minefield near the Maas light off the coast of Holland in the North Sea. All three were sunk and about 250 men were lost.
