Born in 1893 son of Thomas Haslear Catlin and Martha (Bray) Catlin, of 5, Hertingfordbury, Hertford and baptised on 30 Jul 1893. He was a motor body builder.

Enlisted on 3 Sep 1914 at Hertford. Embarked for France from Southampton on 5 Nov 1914.

George is also commemorated on the family in St Mary’s Churchyard, Hertingfordbury. His part of the inscription reads:
