Wartime Service
He served in 4 Company of the Hertfordshire Regiment and his Regimental number was 266935.
He had been taken prisoner and died, probably as a result of the flu epidemic then raging across Europe, at the Niederzwehren Prisoner of War camp in Germany. The date of his capture has not been discovered, but as his name does not appear in the British Red Cross Enquiry List of 1917, he was probably captured at some time during 1918 and most likely in March or April of that year. According to hi soldiers effect records, he died of sickness while a prisoner of war at Bayreuth, Germany.
He was buried in Plot IV, Row M, Grave 7 of the Niederzwehren Cemetery in Germany.
