Pre War

Henry Charles was born about 1897 in North Deptford, London. On the 1911 he is living with his grandparents and sister Lily on New Road Northchurch.

Wartime Service

He was enlisted in 17th (Empire) Battalion Royal Fusiliers. He died of his wounds on 8 Oct 1918, which was the opening day of 2nd Battle of Cambrai.


Henry Charles is interred in Grevillers Cemetery, which was associated with deaths occurring in both Nos. 49 & 56 Casualty Clearing Stations at that time.

Additional Information

War gratuity of £3 and arrears of £6 4s 4d paid to his Stepmother Minnie.
