Son of Mary Ann (nee COXFORD) and the late William Thomas CARPENTER; husband of Elizabeth (nee DICKENS) CARPENTER of Watford.

His parents married 1892 in the Hampstead, London, district.  William died 1907 in the Hendon, Middx, district aged 41; Mary died 1949 in the Willesden, London, district aged 80.

Thomas was born 1895 in Willesden, and baptised 15 May 1895 at St Augustine’s, Kilburn, London. He married 27 September 1914 at the Wesleyan Church, Watford; they had one child.  He resided in Watford.

On the 1901 Census, aged 5 he lived in Willesden, with his parents and three siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a baker aged 16, he still lived in Willesden, with his widowed mother and four siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Paddington, London, 9 December 1915, for the Duration of the War: a boot relief manager aged 23, 6′ tall, married, of Watford.

He was promoted to Acting Corporal 20 August 1916, to Sergeant 30 September 1916, and embarked Folkstone, Kent, 5 October 1916.  He was wounded 21 August 1917, a gun-shot wound to the leg, and died of his injury next day.  He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals.
