Pre War
Thomas Scott was born in Radlett. Herts in 1890, the son of James and Emma Scott, and baptised there on 6 April 1890. On the 1891, 1901 and 1911 Censuses, the family were living at Primrose Hill, Radlett and his father was working as a Railway Labourer and Platelayer. Tom was working as a Gardener in 1911.
He married Emily Jane Neal on 17 July 1915 at Hornsey Rise, Islington at which time he was working as a Chauffeur, and they lived at 30 Crondace Road, Parsons Green, SW6.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, initially into the Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment under reg. no. 61610, later transferring into the 4th London Regiment, The Royal Fusiliers.
Records show that he was captured by the Germans and died of wounds, and was initially buried in the German cemetery at Bevern, where there was a prisoner of war camp.
Additional Information
His widow Emily received a war gratuity of £6 and pay owing of £3 7s 10d. She also received a pension of 13s 9d a week from 24.6.18.
