His parent’s marriage is proving elusive. Richard died 1910 in Watford aged 47, and was buried 17 November in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford. Mary possibly remarried 1918 in the Watford district to James A WOOD.
James was born c1895 in Watford, and resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 5 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, a caddie boy at golf club aged 16, he still lived in Watford, with his widowed mother and three siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Hertford; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 2 May 1915, and died of wounds received in action.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, James’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
