Pre War

Born in 1893 son of George and Eliza Burch. He was baptised on 5th March 1893 in Aldbury. 


His father died when he was 2 yrs old. In 1901, aged 8, he was living with his widowed mother in the village. 


By 1911 he was working as a farm labourer living in Trooper Lane, Aldbury. 


Wartime Service

Enlisted into the Bedfordshire Regiment (No 26614) before being transferred to the 11/Sussex Regt.  

Listed as Killed in Action during the Somme offensive  on the attack in the Redoubt Sector.
