Son of James and Elizabeth (nee POLLARD) BUDD of Watford; husband of Jane Elizabeth Richardson SANDERSON (formerly BUDD, nee MORGAN) of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
His parents married 1882 in the Greenwich, London, district. Elizabeth died 1945 in Watford aged 86, and was buried 16 May in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; James died 1947 in Watford aged 88, and was buried 12 March, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
James was born 1883 in the St Pancras, London, district, and married 12 February 1906 at St Andrew’s, Watford; they had two children. Jane remarried 1919 in the Newcastle district to James SANDERSON, and died either 1970 aged 84 or 1971 aged 85 in the Newcastle district.
On the 1891 Census, aged 7 he lived in St Pancras, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1901 Census, a railway clerk aged 17, he still lived in St Pancras, with his parents and no siblings. On the 1911 Census, [Thomas] a miner below ground aged 27, lived in Greenside, Co Durham, with his wife and two children.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals, his qualifying date being 19 September 1914, and died.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, James’ Service Record is one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
Recorded as BUDD J in the Borough Roll of Honour; and on the Christ Church Memorial.
