Pre War

Born on 15 May 1890 in Chatham, Kent son of Henry John and Emily Martha (Gill) Browne of Grosvenor House, Faversham, Kent. Educated at Haileybury College 1905-08 and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 18 Sep 1909, Lieutenant 26 Jan 1911. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Promoted to Captain 25 Oct 1914. He entered France with the British Expeditionary Force and was wounded at Caudry on the fourth day of the retreat from Mons. He recovered and returned to the front. On 7 Nov 1914 he was badly wounded during the fighting at Hooge, Belgium and died of his wounds at the Allied Forces Base Hospital at Boulogne.
