Arthur Roscoe was born in 1890 to Richard Roscoe (Solicitor) and Charlotte Alicia (nee Wicksteed).
He graduated with Honours in Classics and History from Cambridge University and became a Schoolmaster.
Wartime Service
He enlisted as Private with Inns of Court OTC gaining a commission 19 Dec 1914 and joined Queens Own ( Royal West Kents) 14 Aug 1915 and went to BEF 19 Apr1916.
He was gazetted Military Cross 20 Oct 1916. The citation read: "For Conspicuous Gallantry and ability leading his patrol past the enemy advanced defences over ground completely new to him, thereby gaining valuable information."
