Son of Jane (nee GARWOOD) BRINKLEY of Watford, and the late James Howe BRINKLEY.
His parents married 24 December 1879 at Holy Trinity, Holborn, London.  James died 1914 in Watford aged 61, and was buried 6 February in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Jane died 1936 in Watford aged 77, and was buried 4 March, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Frederick was born 1897 in Watford, and baptised 21 November 1897 at St Andrew’s, Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 3 he lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling.  On the 1911 Census, aged 13 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and one sibling.
Wartime Service
He enlisted 16 November 1915 in Watford for the Duration of the War, a L.N.W.R. railway clerk aged 18, 5’5½” tall, of Watford; his next-of-kin was his mother. He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was missing believed drowned as a result of the sinking of the H.T. Osmanieh en route to the Egyptian Expeditionary Force.
