Thomas was the eldest son of Harry Teagle and Fanny (nee Andrews) of Brook End, Pitstone, Leighton Buzzard, Beds. Born in Haversham, Bucks and was living in Northchurch when he enlisted in Winchester.
Wartime Service
2nd Wilts were part of 19th (Western) Division and were being ‘rested’ by relieving French positions on the Chemin des Dames when the Germans launched Operation Blucher in this Area.
Thomas died of wounds on 6 Jun 1918 during this attack.
Additional Information
His father, Mr. H. Teagle, Brook End, Pitstone, Leighton Buzzard, Beds. ordered his headstone inscription: "ROCK OF AGES CLEFT FOR ME". War gratuity of £10 10 and arrears of £10 3s paid to Father Harry. Thomas’ brother, Arthur ,serving with Middlesex Regt also died Sep 1918 and is listed on the memorials.
