Pre War

Sidney Bridgeman was born in Little Hallingbury, Essex (Bishop's Stortford registration
district) in 1896 to John and Lydia Bridgeman, where his father was a sawyer.


By the 1911 Census, his mother had died, but Sidney was still living with his
father and two sisters at Little Hallingbury and working as a farm labourer.

Wartime Service

He enlisted at Hertford and Initially served in Hertfordshire Regiment, under Reg. No. 2921 (Medal Index Cards) & 265739 (SDIGW) Herts Regiment. He was killed on 10 October 1917 and his body was never recovered.

Additional Information

His father received his pay owing of £7 6s 1d and a war gratuity of £14.00.

N.B.



The surname Bridgeman is sometimes spelt without the middle 'e'.
