Pre War

Ernest Charles Richardson was born in Fringford near Oxford in 1895 to Charles Richardson, a cattleman, and Mary Ann (nee White).


On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Ada Sophia (born 1894) and Ernest  were living at Fringford, Oxon.


Ernest’s father died in 1906.


On the 1911 census Ernest was working as a gardener, living with his mother in Fringford, also recorded was a boarder Kate Mary Gearing (born, 1904).

Wartime Service

No Service Record was found for Ernest . He was enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment as Private 18398 as part of 112 Brigade, 37 Division landing in France 30 Jul 1915.


In 1916 they were in the Somme area when Ernest was killed in action on 13 Aug 1916 possibly as a result of the daily attrition of troops due to enemy action. His remains were not recovered and .he is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.
