Thomas Frederick BOLTWOOD was born on 21st May
1899, in Wormley, Hertfordshire, son of Henry Boltwood an Estate Labourer and
Emily Boltwood (nee Webb). One of six children although two died in infancy.
Baptised on 30th June 1899, in the Parish of
Wormley, Herts.
1901 Census records Thomas aged 2, living with his parents,
sisters Emily (9), Daisy (4) and Laura Amelia 5 weeks old, at The Square,
Church Lane, Wormley, Herts.
1911 Census Thomas (11), is at school, living with his parents,
sisters Daisy (14), Laura Amelia (10) and brother Edward (5), are still living at
The Square, Church Lane, Wormley.
Wartime Service
Thomas travelled to the County Town of Hertford to enlist,
posted to the Royal Field Artillery and issued with the service number 102431.
On completion of his training Thomas was sent to France. Seeing action on the
Western Front, he was killed in Action on 18th October 1916, aged
19. He is buried in the Quarry Cemetery, Montauban, France. Grave Ref: IV. B.

His mother Emily received a Dependents Pension of 6/6 a week
from 15th May 1917, and his effects of £9-17-03, pay owing and his
war gratuity of £4-10-00.
