Frederick George Dollimore was born in 1897 in Highbury, Middx to Edwin John Dollimore, optical pebble maker, and Laura (nee Riley).

On the 1901 Census the family of parents, Maud G (born 1892), Sidney R (born 1892), Edward J (born 1894) and Frederick were living at Mayville Street, Highbury.

On the 1911 Census the family of parents, Sidney (general engineer), Edward (grocery assistant), Frederick and Dorothy (born 1903) were living at 101, Shacklewell Lane, Hackney.
Frederick’s parents later came to live at 10, Rushby Mead, Letchworth, Herts.

Wartime Service

No Service Record was found for Frederick who was enlisted in Oct 1916 in the Northamptonshire Regiment as Private 225780 but was transferred to the Bedfordshire Regiment as Private 203926 at some time.


Frederick went to France in May 1917 joining the 1st Battalion at Arras. The Division moved to the Ypres area later in 1917 to take part in the Battle of 3rd Ypres (Paschendaele) and took part in the battle of Polygon Wood (26 Sep-3 Oct) in which Frederick was wounded and died of his wounds on 6 Oct 1917.

War Gratuity of £3 and arrears of £2 7s 9d was paid to his father.
